Where’s my ticket?

Your ticket is the email we send straight after payment, from tickets@digginghistoryuk.co.uk. It lists your ticket numbers, and that email is your ticket, so keep it safe. Not arrived within the hour? Check spam first, then email us at digginghistoryuk@outlook.com and we will sort it. The system checks for undelivered tickets every few minutes and resends automatically, so most of the time it fixes itself before you notice.

Who can enter?

Anyone aged 18 or over who lives in England, Scotland or Wales. Sadly the law behind our licence does not let us take entries from Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or overseas. If an entry slips through from outside the area, it is refunded automatically in full.

How much, and how many?

Tickets are £10 each, all the same price, and there are only 2,000 in total. You can buy up to 50 in one go. Sales close at midday on 23 December 2026, or earlier if they sell out.

What exactly do I win?

A two week gold detecting trip for two to the Golden Triangle in Victoria, Australia, in October 2027: return flights, fourteen nights’ accommodation, a five day gold prospecting boot camp with expert tuition, detecting equipment hire for the whole trip, and entry to the Laanecoorie Gold Bash 2027 with lunch included. You bring your travel insurance, passport and spending money. Full details are in the terms: www.digginghistoryuk.co.uk/raffle-terms

How is the winner picked?

Live in the Digging History UK Facebook group on Christmas Eve at 8pm. When sales close, the entry list is locked and published as a fingerprint on our draw page. The winning number then comes from drand, a public randomness beacon run by independent organisations, using a round chosen in advance. Nobody can influence it, including us, and anyone can repeat the calculation and get the same answer.

Where does the money go?

All profits go to Combat Stress, the UK charity for veterans’ mental health. The club has raised money for them for years, and this raffle is our biggest push yet. As a registered small society lottery we also file a return with Peterborough City Council after the draw, so the numbers are properly accounted for.

Can I get a refund?

Ticket sales are final, as with any raffle, except where the terms or the law say otherwise (for example entries from outside England, Scotland and Wales, which are refunded automatically). If a payment is refunded for any reason, all tickets in that purchase are void and take no part in the draw.

Is this legit?

Yes. The raffle is run by Digging History UK as a small society lottery registered with Peterborough City Council, registration number 136429. The designated responsible member is Martin Stokes. The full terms and conditions are at www.digginghistoryuk.co.uk/raffle-terms, and the draw is publicly verifiable as described above.
