At Digging History UK we’re more than just a metal detecting club – we’re a community dedicated to uncovering Britain’s stories, building friendships and giving back. Founded by a small group of detectorists who wanted to share their love of history, we’ve grown into a network of diggers, landowners, families and sponsors who all believe that Britain’s past has the power to enrich our lives today.
Led by, Martin, and Steve, our team offers guidance on metal detecting techniques, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all. From small relics to remarkable historical finds, every discovery is celebrated.
Giving Back to Veterans
We’re particularly proud of our commitment to veterans’ mental health. A portion of every event ticket, raffle and auction goes directly to our charity partners such as Combat Stress. In 2024 we were thrilled to present over £17,000 to support their life‑changing work. You’ll often see members of our team alongside Chelsea Pensioners and other veterans, sharing stories and raising awareness – because for those who gave their today, we can give a little back.
Beyond our shared passion for history, we are deeply committed to giving back to those who served. Our Mission & Responsible Detecting
Our mission is simple: to make the thrill of discovery accessible to everyone while raising money for causes close to our hearts. We organise regular digs across the UK, working closely with farmers and archaeologists to ensure responsible detecting. Every find, whether it’s a Roman coin, a fragment of pottery or a bullet casing, is treated with respect and recorded properly. The joy on a young detectorist’s face as they uncover their first artefact reminds us why we do what we do.
